12.58 Gifts of Joy-Giving Fabulousness and Sustenance…

13.56 Lunch at 13.00 with two late arrivals, making now 28 around the tables.
And looking out through Fripp’s eyes, I recognized an experience from Broadstone Primary School at the age of ten, standing by the hut which had been my first classroom, an experience that resonated when described in a presentation by Victor McSurely at Raft Island 15 days ago.

19.59 A chance encounter in the corridor with Dr. Mike before dinner and a good catching-up across the board: SSG V; the rebel Demiurge; how one dissentient or uncommitted member within a group and the group fails; libraries and book collections; finding one’s place in life; and much more.
Dinner at 19.00. Only one more participant to arrive, from Ecuador, flying here from Madrid. Inaugural Meeting called for 21.00 in the ballroom, although it is not known when last the room held dancing.

Preparation Course
San Cugat (Barcelona), Spain
Sunday 13th to Monday 21st November, 2011
23.04 Inaugural Meeting: the course was acknowledged underway at 21.03. Going around the Circle, saying who we are, where we come from, what brought us here, and our aim for the course.
RF: great changes are underway in the world. The Old World is dying, and its forms and structures are crumbling. How may we support the creation of the New World? From another point of view, how may we support the Creative Impulse that began acting through Guitar Craft in West Virginia over 26 years ago, intensifying at the Red Lion House between 1986-89. From another point of view, Hernan tells me when I am needed. And I wish to support the work of all those present.
Morning Sitting: for those without an established practice, in the Chapel with Alain at 07.30. For those with an established sitting practice, in the ballroom at 07.15.
Who feels pitiful? Five hands were raised, mine among them, but not enough to unseat a larger action in the House. So, anyone who wishes to bring their guitar is welcome in the ballroom at 21.50.
Ten in the Inner Circle, 22 in the Outer Circle, three outside the Circle, one of those our Alexander Teacher.
Attention to the soles of the feet head, to the top of the head, and to what is in between.
To what is in front of us, what is behind, below and above.
To everything that is outside us. Everything that is inside us.
Then returning to the soles of the feet, and to the right hand.
For those who have accepted the advice not to play their instrument for a week prior to arriving here, this will be their first intentional note, the first note played with definition, clarity and certainty, for a week.
When ready, please begin.
A wondrous beginning. At the least, remarkably interesting.
Inner Circle: when ready, please begin.
Wonderful.
Outer Circle: when ready, please begin. A nod to one of the Inner Circle and, when the Outer Circle had come to an end, this player encouraged a new whole Circles’ wondrousness.
It would be pretty well impossible to score this meeting’s music, even for the most skilled composer with the latest version of Sibelius, a pile of manuscript books and a box of pencils. At times it was as if an animal was moving through the guitars and the sounds. Not quite a wild animal, not quite a dangerous animal. But an animal, unleashed.
This until c. 22.40.
23.46 Robert has been looking out through Fripp’s eyes on many occasions today.
